How to Apply
Appointments
All applicants for immigrant visas regardless of whether their appointments are scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC) or our regional Call Center must appear in person at the Embassy in San Salvador for an interview. Prior to the scheduling of an interview, NVC or the Consular Section will send a packet of information instructing the applicant to gather and send to the Consular Section all of the documents that are required for the interview.
All immigrant visa applicants and any family members included in the petition and accompanying the principal applicant, must schedule their interview through our regional call center. All the applicants must be registered on line prior to their interview at www.ustraveldocs.com/sv. Please note that each family member is an applicant and therefore must be scheduled individually for an appointment. Applicants that are not scheduled for an appointment will not be able to complete their interview which may result in delays in visa processing.
All immigrant visa applicants will be required to appear for their appointments with all required documents as requested in the instruction packet. Please note that you may have to shcedule a follow up interview appointment if you do not have all the required documents.
Once we make an appointment we will notify you or your registered agent by mail, or by e-mail. You can check your appointment time, or request changes by calling the call center at 503 2113-1891 or 503 2211-9392.
Preparing for the Interview
Once the Consular Section has received all of the preliminary documentation, we will mail you the Appointment Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants and schedule an interview.
Prior to the interview, all immigrant visa applicants must undergo a physical examination by one of the panel physician authorized by the Embassy to conduct such examinations. Only Embassy authorized physicians may complete this examination. A list of authorized physicians is included in the Appointment Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants.
Immigrant Visa Fees
Before the interview, each immigrant visa applicant must pay a visa processing fee, with the exception of the employment preference visa. Please see our recent visa fee schedule changes. Once the visa process is complete, all applicable requirements have been met, and the Consular Officer determines that the applicant is eligible, the visa will be approved. The visa will be delivered to the applicant via our courier service.
Additional Documents Submitted by Courier
