General Douglas M. Fraser, new Commander of the U.S. Southern Command, made his first visit to El Salvador on September 3.

On his rounds of courtesy calls within the Ministry of Defense, and his meeting with President Funes, Gen. Fraser emphasized the long-standing partnership between the US and El Salvador in promoting stability and security in the Western Hemisphere.

A recent example of our humanitarian cooperation was seen in the participation of US and Salvadoran military personnel in medical exercises held in San Fernando, Chalatenango on August 25th.
