During September 21- 22, U.S.Embassy invited Dr. German Bollero, professor of Biometry and Crop Systems at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, to meet representatives from the Don Bosco and National Universities in El Salvador. Dr. Bollero met with authorities, professors and postgraduate students from both universities to present the latest developments on biofuels.

On September 23, Dr. Bollero met separately with representatives of the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Studies (FUSADES), the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Energy Commission and the Salvadoran Sugar Council.

By learning about the latest research developed in the U.S. to produce biofuels, both Salvadoran academic researchers and government officials, can learn about new techniques and plant varieties being tested in North America to produce better, cleaner and more efficient bio-renewable sources of energy.
