$31.5 Million for USAID Programs in El Salvador
Charge Blau talks after signing the Bilateral Agreement Amendments for ongoing programs in support of the Government of El Salvador and the Salvadoran people.
Charge d’Affaires Robert I. Blau and Salvadoran Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo Martinez signed an amendment to the Bilateral Agreement for ongoing programs in support of the government of El Salvador and the Salvadoran people. This amendment constitutes an increase of almost 40% over 2008 funding.
The USG, through USAID, has obligated $31,586,000 in FY 2009 funding through Bilateral Agreement Amendments under the Objectives for: Governing Justly and Democratically $9,290,000; Investing in People $11,490,000 and Economic Growth $10,806,000.
In 2008 the support through USAID was $23, 411,000.
This increase in cooperation assistance is another example of the strong commitment of the United States with El Salvador and a reflection of the historic relationship and the continued good relations between the two countries.
The Salvadoran vice Minister for Cooperation for Development Jaime Alfredo Miranda and USAID El Salvador Director Larry Brady were also present.
