More supplies for reconstruction

El Sauce Community in San Martín, Cuscatlán, was one of the communities affected by the floods and mudslides caused by Hurricane Ida last November. Since then, its inhabitants have tried to return to their everyday life little by little.

One big effort to get El Sauce back to normality has been carried out by the US Mil group at the US Embassy in San Salvador. Since the tragedy occurred, Mil Group personnel have been instrumental in obtaining and delivering the supplies to get this community back on its feet.

El Sauce’s Educational Center, which serves 183 students from 1st to 9th grade, received supplies to reconstruct its latrines which caved in during the floods. Moreover, the community was able to begin the distribution of potable water with the reconstruction of the distribution pipes with the materials donated by the US.

Severe flooding and mudslides in early November displaced hundreds and killed more than 190 residents of El Salvador. JTF-Bravo responded quickly, along with agencies of the Salvadoran government, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and non-governmental organizations.
