FCS Carries Out "Doing Business with the U.S.” Seminar
On January 26, the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, together with the American Chamber of Commerce in El Salvador, offered a workshop to Salvadoran businessmen and entrepreneurs on "Doing Business with the United States."
The workshop, which is part of the U.S. commitment under Partnership for Growth to strengthen, promote and facilitate trade between U.S. and El Salvador, aims to raise awareness of the support available to Salvadoran importers and exporters.
The day-long workshop included sessions on the 2012 calendar of trade fairs, services offered by the Commercial Section in El Salvador, and presentations by Salvadoran businesses such as 3 Puntos, Lopez-Henriquez Consultants and HSBC Bank on their experiences with American markets. Representatives from the U.S. embassy consular section also explained the process of applying for business visas in the United States.
More than 250 participants attended the event, and had opportunities to ask questions to each of the speakers.
The workshop was co-sponsored by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Delta Airlines, HSBC Bank, Seaboard Marine and FEDEX.
The Foreign Commercial Section is the agency of the Department of Commerce of the United States that seeks to promote trade by promoting exports from the United States to El Salvador. Their main goal is to facilitate communication between entrepreneurs of both countries and provide services that enable providers to identify Salvadoran importers or new lines of distribution or representation, and that exporting firms are suppliers of raw materials, machinery, technology or equipment.
