U.S. Sponsors Brass Master Classes in El Salvador
The U.S Embassy in El Salvador sponsored workshops on brass instruments provided by international trumpet player Benjamin Browne to members of the Symphony Youth Orchestra (OSJ), Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Orchestra.
The objective of the program is to train young musician and give them the opportunity to gain knowledge and inspiration from important musicians like Browne.
The program will conclude with a concert by the young musicians conducted by Benjamin Browne at “Nuestra Señora de la Presentación” church on September 14 at 6.00 pm. Tickets for the concert will be $2.00 and all proceeds will be donated to the church.
The U.S Embassy has supported OSJ since 2005 through the Program “ConectArte”. The purpose this program is to encourage youth leadership and train Salvadoran youth in the arts and cultural development of the country. The government of United States has invested more than $150,000 in 23 projects for the Youth Orchestra in efforts to contribute to the building of a peaceful society, free from violence and encourage national artistic enrichment through cultural exchange.
In 2012, ConectArte will support not only the visit of trumpet player Benjamin Browne, but also a cultural exchange program that will bring four musicians of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas from Washington D.C. to conduct workshops for ProArte from October 8 -19.
