70 Children From Soyapango Meet With American Soccer Stars

On October 24, 70 children from the Soccer Academy of the Salvador del Mundo Foundation (FUSALMO) in Soyapango met with some of the stars of the American “LA Galaxy” team. This soccer team is one of the most recognized in the US Major League Soccer (MLS).

U.S. Ambassador Mari Carmen Aponte also participated in the event and encouraged young people to continue striving to become better leaders for their country. Moreover, she urged them to continue their efforts in their personal development for the benefit of El Salvador.

Salvadoran youth had a conversation with Mauricio Cienfuegos, former member of El Salvador’s national team and now technical coach of the LA Galaxy Academy in the United States. The soccer player is one of the founders of the MLS and through his long career has become one of the leading representatives of Salvadoran fútbol and soccer in the United States.

The U.S. Embassy in San Salvador supports the development of young people through sports. These programs allow young Salvadoran athletes to interact with national and international athletes and become motivated to continue striving for success in their personal lives.

Los Angeles Galaxy is the tri champions of the US National Soccer League.  They were also the 2000 champions of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
