Visas for T & U Derivatives in San Salvador

Interviews for T & U visa derivative applicants are held once a month and require review before an appointment can be scheduled.  Petitioners or their attorneys should send an email requesting an appointment to the embassy at NIVSanSalvador@state.gov* that includes the complete name and date of birth of the principal applicant and the receipt number of the approved petition, along with the names and dates of birth for all derivative applicants.  The receipt number can be found on the principal applicant’s I-797 and has the following format; WAC or EAC – XX-XXX-5XXXX, with the Xs being numbers.

All T & U visa derivative applicants must bring to their interview the following items, regardless of age:

  • A valid passport;
  • A 5cm x 5cm photo of the applicant’s face and shoulders, facing directly into the camera, with a white background, showing the ears and hairline;
  • A receipt for the $140 MRV fee payment from Citibank El Salvador;
  • Birth certificate showing relationship to the petitioner and a marriage certificate if the applicant is the spouse of the principal; and
  • A copy of their I-797 approved petition.

All derivative applicants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by the parents listed on their birth certificates.  The only exceptions are if one of the parents is the petitioner or if only one parent is listed on the birth certificate.
