Photo Requirements
Each applicant, including children and infants, must submit two recent, identical, color photographs that provide a full front view of the applicant's face against a plain light background. The image of the face, measured from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (including hair), should be not less than one inch and not more than one and three-eighths inch.
Photos may be obtained at the canopied area near the visa entrance or from commercial photo shops. The cost for photos is not controlled by the Embassy but typically is four or five dollars.
The American Citizen Services unit of the U.S. Embassy would like to emphasize the importance of the quality of the photograph submitted. Following is the description that a photograph for a U.S. passport application must meet:
- The photographs must be 2”x2” inches (5x5 cm) in size.
- The image size measured from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (including hair) must be not less than 1 inch (2.5 cm) and no more than 1 3/8 (3.5cm).
- Photographs must be front view, full face and printed on thin non-glossy paper with light, plain background.
