Americans support Salvadoran Medical Exercise

Press Release
September 28, 2007

Five doctors from a U.S. Military unit based at Soto Cano base in Honduras, traveled to El Salvador on September 27, 2007 to support the Salvadoran military in a MEDRETE which provided medical services to the population of San Juan Opico, La Libertad, 26 miles north east of San Salvador.

Ambassador Charles L. Glazer and his wife Janet traveled to the site, the Hacienda Los Chorros school, to witness the medical exercise and greet the American personnel involved.

“I would like to thank the Salvadoran military leadership for demonstrating their commitment to the community and inviting our U.S. military medical personnel to participate in their efforts here today. The Salvadoran Armed Forces are strong partners with whom we have conducted similar activities for many years and will continue to do so”, said Ambassador Glazer.

So far this year almost 32,000 Salvadorans in the departments of Sonsonate, Chalatenango, Santa Ana, Cabañas and Usulután have benefited from these exercises.
