Assistant Secretary of State Shannon visits El Salvador

Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Thomas Shannon, made a brief visit to El Salvador this Monday November 27.
The Assistant Secretary met with Salvadoran President Elias Antonio Saca and discussed issues of bilateral importance, including trade and international security cooperation. Mr. Shannon departed the same afternoon for Nicaragua and will then finish his regional tour in Panama.
A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Shannon served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the National Security Council from 2003 to 2005.
