Chargé d'Affaires
Welcome Message
Welcome to the U.S. Embassy's El Salvador website. As the Chargé d'Affaires, I am responsible for continuing to represent the United States Government and the American people in El Salvador, until a new Ambassador is named and arrives as the President’s personal representative to El Salvador.
It is a great honor and privilege to represent the United States at such an important juncture in our relationship, which is especially close, cooperative, and productive.
Since our arrival in July of 2008, my family and I have enjoyed every opportunity to learn more about El Salvador and its people. There is still much to learn and much to do, particularly at a time of challenges such as the present. With the world enduring an economic crisis and our country entering a new era with President Barack Obama, I know that our work here is as important as ever. I want to emphasize to Salvadoran visitors to this website that the absence of an ambassador is normal at the beginning of a new U.S. Administration, and does not call into question the high value our government places on the ties between our two nations. The U.S. Embassy continues its work in every sphere of activity as before, and is blessed with skilled, experienced, and dedicated staff—both Salvadoran and American.
The cornerstone of our relationship is the warm friendship and mutual respect that Salvadorans and Americans have for each other. Today, over 2 million Salvadorans are working or studying in the United States, while the 12,000 Americans here in El Salvador contribute in many ways to the country’s rich social, business, and cultural life.
The United States and El Salvador have a long history of cooperation and assistance. Whether one looks at economic policy and trade, educational exchanges, or working together against terrorism and crime, the Salvadoran-American connection is strong and mutually beneficial.
